Inspection Principle: Active magnesium oxide can completely react with water to form magnesium hydroxide at 100 degrees. One molecule MgO can combine with one molecule water to produce magnesium hydroxide. In this process, the weight of magnesium oxide sample increases. The weight of water consumed before and after the reaction is the increase of sample weight. According to the amount of reaction water, the weight of active magnesium oxide participating in the reaction can be calculated, and the content of active magnesium oxide can be obtained.
The experimental steps are as follows: 1. In the stock of magnesia, 30 grams of magnesia samples are taken from different angles and heights (no less than 10 places) and mixed evenly; 2. The beaker is baked in the drying oven to a constant weight; 3. The 100 grams of magnesia is accurately weighed and placed in a constant weight beaker; 4. 400 grams of water is added to make it completely wet; 5. Then, the samples are heated and boiled for more than 2 hours (or placed in an electric oven).
